As the demand for healthcare services continues to increase, so does the demand for qualified phlebotomists. These allied health professionals play a vital role in the medical field by drawing blood from patients for laboratory tests and transfusions. Blood specimens are important in-patient care, as they help doctors diagnose and treat patients’ medical conditions. Depending on their place of employment, they may also collect donations from blood donors.
At Premier Health Academy, our phlebotomy program will prepare you for a career in this high-growth field through a comprehensive training program that provides a working knowledge of blood collection, patient safety, and quality assurance. You’ll learn through a combination of classroom and hands-on coursework, which will include the completion of successful venipunctures and capillary sticks prior to graduation.
From verifying a patient’s identification to labeling drawn samples, our phlebotomy schools will provide you with the knowledge and technical skill you’ll need to pass the licensing exam and begin your career after graduation.
From job security to personal satisfaction, the phlebotomy career field offers a variety of benefits. Like many jobs in the allied health field, phlebotomy career opportunities are expected to grow at a very fast rate, creating a high level of job security for those with the proper phlebotomy training and certification. A phlebotomy career can also provide a high degree of satisfaction, as each day you’ll go home knowing that you played a vital role in the health and well-being of your patients. Depending on where you work, you may see dozens of patients each day, some of whom will come back regularly to see you for blood work.
Phlebotomy training programs are typically much shorter than those for other allied health professions, making it possible for you to begin your career relatively quickly, especially if you attend school on a full-time basis. It also opens up doors to other, more advanced career options, which you can train for as you’re working in the field.
All of this hands-on practice is great preparation for the national certification exam, which tests graduates’ skill level and knowledge of the phlebotomy field. Students at Premier Health Academy spend a great deal of time preparing for the certification exam as they approach graduation, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to pass. Earning this certification is a critical step to beginning a successful phlebotomy career, as it assures employers that applicants have the professionalism required for the position. The CPT certification is recognized all over the country (except California) and shows prospective employers that you have proven skills.
